Barnstable County beaches are monitored for fecal indicator bacteria June – Labor Day. This program monitors recreational water for fecal bacteria ONLY. All result units are MPN/100ML (Most Probable Number). MPN is a statistical method to estimate the concentration of bacteria in a sample. The geometric mean is a statistical average of the most recent five samples.
