Summary of FY25 Dredge Season
The FY25 dredge season was very successful despite weather and mechanical delays as well the challenge of scheduling projects around the numerous Time of Year (TOY) restrictions for Winter Flounder, Horseshoe Crabs, and Shorebirds. Twelve projects in eight towns were completed for a total of 77,552 Cubic Yards (CY).
The largest project was in the Cotuit Approach / Entrance Channel (Barnstable) with a total of 23,016 CY dredged and the smallest project was in the Green Pond Entrance Channel (Falmouth) with 2,312 CY dredged.
Other key projects included the completion of the Bass River Entrance Channel project in Yarmouth/Dennis, the Sesuit Harbor Approach / Entrance project in Dennis, and the Mill Creek Approach / Entrance Channel project in Chatham, among several others.

All of the material dredged was used for beach renourishment as well as for rebuilding / restoring several critical barrier beaches on Bassett’s Island in Bourne, Sampson’s Island in Barnstable, and on Popponesset Spit in Mashpee.
