This August, Barnstable County residents and visitors are coming together to remember, honor, and raise awareness for the lives we’ve lost to overdose, those still struggling, and those in recovery. We invite you to gather with us at these special events:
Barnstable County Remembers: Honoring the Lives Lost to Overdose

Join us as we place flags in remembrance of Barnstable County residents lost to overdose in 2024, and in honor of all who have lost their lives. Light refreshments will be provided.

Community Gathering of Remembrance – International Overdose Awareness Day
When: August 31, 2025 | 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Where: Falmouth Village Green (across from St. Barnabas Church)

A heartfelt evening of sharing photos, stories, and words of remembrance. Wear purple in support and visit with local organizations offering resources.

International Overdose Awareness Day Candlelight Beach Memorial

Where: Smugglers Beach, 220 South St, South Yarmouth
