Barnstable County Delivers Live Fire Training in Harwich
Instructors from the Barnstable County Cape Cod Center for Public Safety Training Fire Program Division recently assisted the Harwich Fire Department in completing required Firefighter 1 live fire training for a new firefighter.
Working alongside department staff, County instructors utilized the County’s live fire burn trailer to create realistic, controlled scenarios that mirror the conditions firefighters face in the field. The training focused on critical skills including fire control, hose management, and search and rescue operations.
This effort reflects Barnstable County’s ongoing role in supporting all 19 fire departments across Cape Cod. Through both classroom instruction and hands-on live fire training, County staff deliver mobile, on-duty training as well as drills for call and volunteer departments—ensuring firefighters across the region are prepared when it matters most.
