Incident or Event Overview
Situation
Barnstable County and regional partners are concluding coordinated response operations following the February winter storm.
Weather conditions have stabilized, power restoration is substantially complete across the region, telecommunications services continue improving, and shelter operations have officially demobilized.
As of today:
- The Multi-Agency Coordination Center (MACC) is closing at 3:00 PM and returning to normal operations.
- Regional shelters are closing or are closed following significant decreases in census and restoration of power.
- State and county partners continue limited follow-up support for remaining isolated outages.
The closure of the MACC reflects marked improvement in community conditions and successful restoration efforts.
Impacts
- Power outages reduced to isolated or single-location incidents
- Telecommunications service largely restored, with limited localized issues
- Shelter census reduced from peak operations to full demobilization
- Approximately 17,000 total meals distributed during the event
- No ongoing large-scale public safety impacts
Utility Restoration & Telecommunications
Utilities report substantial restoration completion across Barnstable County.
Over the coming days:
- Aerial and drone inspections will continue
- Vegetation management crews will address hanging limbs and post-storm hazards
- Residents are encouraged to report isolated outages directly
Eversource advises that residents returning from travel who discover isolated outages should proactively report them directly to their service provider, as single-home outages may not automatically register.
Telecommunications providers report remaining work on downed service drops and localized service interruptions.
