SALES & MORTGAGE VOLUME ARE DOWN!
Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in January 2024 was down 11.4% from January 2023 volume and the total value of sales was down 7.6% from the previous year. The median individual property sale value was up 11.1% from the previous year. There was a 14.9% decrease in the volume of mortgage activity from January 2023 levels.
Year to Date: Volume of Sales is down 11.4%; Total Value of Sales is down 7.6%; Individual Sales Value is up 11.1%; Mortgage Volume is down 14.9%.
Register Meade reports that there were 310 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in January 2024 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $267,943,462.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in January 2024 was $590,000.00.
There were 513 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in January 2024 with a total value of $388,585,053.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential, or other, was $305,428.00.
By way of comparison, there were 350 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in January 2023 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $289,977,490.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in January 2023 was $531,000.00.
There were 603 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in January 2023 with a total value of $384,834.060.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential, or other, was $316,000.00.
