SHINE Prepares for Open Enrollment

On Tuesday October 10, 75 SHINE counselors participated in a training both in person and virtually to prepare for Open Enrollment. Kathleen Gouveia, SHINE Training Coordinator from the Executive Office of Elder Affairs (EOEA) was in attendance, and Barnstable County Department of Human Services staff members Bill Redmond, SHINE Project Specialist, and Kristina O’Brien, SHINE Program Manager, conducted the training which covered the following:
- Open Enrollment 101
- Important Medicare Updates in 2024
- Future Impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act
- Status of Public Health Emergency Flexibilities
- 2024 Prescription Drug Plans
- 2024 Medicare Advantage Plans
- 2024 Medigap Plans
- How to use the Medicare Plan Finder
