AmeriCorps Cape Cod to Celebrate 9 Graduating Members

Ceremony will honor Year 24 members’ contributions to public service across the region

July 17, 2023 (Barnstable, MA) – On July 27th, the AmeriCorps Cape Cod program will celebrate nine graduating members, signifying the completion of each member’s 11 months and 1700 hours of public service across Cape Cod. Members of Year 24 served a combined 17,145 hours and saved the region an estimated $671,913 by supporting projects related to natural resource management, disaster preparedness and response, environmental education, and volunteer engagement.

The public is invited to attend the graduation ceremony and celebrate Year 24 members’ contribution to our Cape Cod community. Join them on Thursday, July 27 at 10 AM at the Barnstable High School-Performing Arts Center, 744 West Main Street, Hyannis. The celebration will feature speeches from local officials, community partners, and more. Light refreshments provided.

AmeriCorps Cape Cod Program Manager, Kat Garofoli, said, “Our Year 24 members stepped up to serve Cape Cod even when faced with challenging conditions. Their commitment to serve brings out the best in our community. We are thrilled to celebrate their efforts at the upcoming graduation ceremony.”

Since 1999, the AmeriCorps Cape Corps program, supported by Barnstable County, Cape Cod’s Regional Government, and the AmeriCorps federal agency, have made a quantifiable, positive impact in the region, having served a total of 990,144 hours, and has saved the region an estimated $26,265,889.
