SALES VOLUME CONTINUES FALL, INDIVIDUAL VALUE RISES!
Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in September 2026 was down 3.4% from September 2025 volume and the total value of sales fell 18.8% from the previous year. The median individual property sales value rose 7.1% from the previous year. There was an 11.2% decrease in the volume of mortgage activity from September 2025 levels.
Year to Date: Volume of Sales is up 1.5%; Total Value of Sales is up 0.2%; Individual Sales Value is up 1.9%; Mortgage Volume is up 11.5%.
Register Meade reports that there were 513 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in September 2026 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $573,329,246.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in September 2026 was $750,000.00.
There were 699 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in September 2026 with a total value of $394,666,340.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential, or other, was $400,000.00.
By way of comparison, there were 531 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in September 2025 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $706,119,821.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in September 2025 was $700,000.00.
There were 787 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in September 2025 with a total value of $514,242,237.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential, or other, was $390,000.00.
