Cape Cod Master Gardeners Annual Plant Sale Returns May 16 with Expanded Selection and Early Opening

April 21, 2026 (Barnstable, MA) – The Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod will host its 27th Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 16, from 8:00 AM to noon at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds.
This popular Cape Cod gardening event features a wide selection of locally grown plants suited for coastal conditions. All plants are grown and carefully selected by Master Gardener volunteers with firsthand experience gardening on Cape Cod.
Shoppers can expect:
- Vegetable plants, including tomatoes and herbs
- Flowering perennials and shrubs that perform well in coastal environments
- Pollinator-friendly native plants that support local ecosystems
- Dahlias and other seasonal favorites
An expanded hydrangea selection will be available in a dedicated tent, featuring native hybrids, reblooming varieties, climbers, and new introductions. Spring-blooming natives such as azaleas, mountain laurels, and rhododendrons will also be available.
New this year: The sale opens at 8:00 AM—one hour earlier than in previous years—giving residents more time to shop before plants sell out.
Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand throughout the event to answer gardening questions. The Cape Cod Cooperative Extension Horticulture Clinic will also offer free soil pH testing. Residents are encouraged to bring a soil sample from their lawn or garden for on-site guidance.
Proceeds from the plant sale support the Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod’s public education programs and community outreach across the region.
The event will be held rain or shine. Pets are not permitted at the fairgrounds.
