Firefighters Train on Forcible Entry Techniques in Centerville

Instructors from the Cape Cod Center for Public Safety Training (CCCSPST) Fire Program Division conducted hands-on training this week at the Centerville, Osterville, Marstons Mills Fire Department (COMM).
Using NFPA-compliant training programs, instructors provided firefighters with the knowledge and practical skills needed when forcible entry is required during a fire or rescue emergency. Training included the use of the Center’s door prop, which allows firefighters to practice techniques used to gain access to structures when responding to emergencies.
The training prop is designed to simulate real-world conditions. Walls installed on both sides of the door prop add additional challenges, reflecting the confined spaces and obstacles firefighters often encounter while working to save lives and protect property in their communities.
Barnstable County supports fire departments across Cape Cod by providing training equipment, props, and mobile training opportunities. Through these programs, instructors bring specialized training directly to all 19 fire departments on Cape Cod, ensuring firefighters have access to the tools and instruction needed to strengthen emergency response capabilities.
