Barnstable County Celebrates the 27th Class of AmeriCorps Cape Cod

Barnstable County celebrated the 27th class of AmeriCorps Cape Cod during a Swearing-In Ceremony held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, on the Superior Courthouse Green in Barnstable Village.
Following the ceremony, a reception and lunch took place in the Mary Pat Flynn Conference Room at the Barnstable County Complex.
This year’s class includes 18 members who began service on October 1st. Members are serving with towns and nonprofit partners across Cape Cod, supporting environmental stewardship, public health, and disaster preparedness projects that strengthen communities across the region.
The event came as AmeriCorps programs nationwide received renewed federal support. Earlier in October, the federal government released more than $184 million in previously withheld AmeriCorps funds, ensuring continued stability for programs like AmeriCorps Cape Cod.
“AmeriCorps Cape Cod is a cornerstone of Barnstable County’s commitment to service,” said Program Manager Misty Niemeyer. “For 27 years, members have strengthened Cape Cod’s resilience while making a lasting impact in our communities.”
