Barnstable County Celebrates National Health Education Week

Recognizing the Many Faces of Health Education Across Barnstable County
Each October, National Health Education Week highlights the vital role that health educators play in improving community well-being. At Barnstable County, this week serves as an opportunity to recognize the many professionals who make health education come to life every day — from our Public Health Nurses and Community Health Educators to our Care Resource Coordinators and countless others who help Cape Cod residents live healthier lives.
Health education is woven throughout everything we do at the Department of Health and Environment. Whether it’s helping residents understand how to prevent illness, promoting vaccination and disease awareness, connecting families to resources, or developing programs that support healthier homes, our team is dedicated to empowering people with knowledge and practical tools for everyday health.
From organizing local health clinics to providing community health education and community outreach, our staff and partners bring health information where it’s needed most — directly into the community. This collaborative approach helps ensure that every resident, in every town, has access to the information and support they need to make informed choices about their well-being.
As we celebrate National Health Education Week, Barnstable County Department and Health and Environment extends its sincere appreciation to all those who serve our communities through education, outreach, and compassionate care. Together, we’re building a stronger, healthier Cape Cod.
