Cape Cod Center for Public Safety Brings Live Fire Training to Brewster

This week, the Cape Cod Center for Public Safety Fire Programs is conducting live fire training in the Town of Brewster using its state-of-the-art mobile burn trailer. The training provides Cape Cod firefighters with the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience under controlled, realistic conditions.
Led by experienced instructor staff, firefighters participate in “live fire evolutions” that simulate real emergency scenarios. These exercises help build confidence, strengthen communication, and enhance the decision-making skills needed in the field — all while ensuring safety and structure throughout the process.
A key feature of the program is its on-duty training model, which allows firefighters to participate while remaining available to respond to calls. This approach helps departments maintain coverage while reducing overtime costs associated with out-of-town training.

“When firefighters can train together under realistic conditions, they strengthen their readiness and their bond as a team,” said Marty Greene, Director of the Cape Cod Center for Public Safety. “This program delivers meaningful, high-quality training right in the communities our firefighters serve, ensuring that Cape towns remain prepared and resilient.”
The mobile live fire training program reflects Barnstable County’s commitment to regional collaboration, innovation, and public safety, ensuring that all Cape Cod firefighters have access to the tools and experience they need to protect residents and visitors alike.
