Open House Recap: Nearly 160 Residents Connected with Their County
We often hear, “What does the County do?” Yesterday’s Open House answered that—nearly 160 residents came to Barnstable Village to see how Barnstable County supports Cape Cod’s 15 towns through health services, programs, and community engagement.

Guests took part in health screenings, explored department exhibits, and saw fire extinguisher demonstrations—and as a special highlight, enjoyed history presentations.

We’re grateful to all County staff who made the event possible, and to our guest speakers—Phineas Fiske and Nancy Rubin Stuart—for bringing history to life. Special thanks as well to former County Treasurer and Commissioner Mary LeClair, who portrayed Mercy Otis Warren, and to Susan Whalley for joining her in sharing Mercy’s story with residents.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—we look forward to hosting this event again.
