Barnstable County HOME Program Conducts Housing Needs Survey

The survey is part of a community-wide effort to identify housing and community development priorities in our region.

February 19, 2025 (Barnstable, MA) – Barnstable County Department of Human Services has contracted with Barrett Planning Group LLC for the development of a survey to better understand the County’s local and regional housing needs. The survey, which can be accessed online at www.capecod.gov/homesurvey, is a requirement of the HOME Consortium’s Consolidated Plan, which is updated every five years.

Results of the survey will help the Barnstable County HOME Consortium (a group represented by all 15 Cape Cod communities that works to create and preserve affordable housing) allocate future funding under the HOME Investment Partnerships Program. This federal grant program is provided to state and local governments specifically for the creation and preservation of affordable housing for low-income households.

“Input from our communities really matters to us” states Renie Hamman, Barnstable County’s HOME Program Manager. She added, “The results of the survey will help us identify the most pressing regional housing needs.”

The survey went live on February 15, 2025, and remains open until March 7, 2025. All responses are completely anonymous and confidential. The survey is available in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
