4-H on Cape Cod: Last Year’s Impact, This Year’s Exciting Future
If you thought 4-H was just about fair ribbons and farm animals, think again. Last year, Cape Cod 4-H delivered BIG TIME for local youth—and there’s even more excitement ahead.
Looking Back: 2024 Highlights
Thanks to dedicated volunteers, educators, and community partnerships, Barnstable County 4-H made major strides in hands-on youth education:
Hydroponic Farming: Thanks to a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR), Cape kids learned how to grow food without soil—a game-changer for future farmers and scientists.
Babysitter Certification: More youth than ever became certified babysitters, learning responsibility, first aid, and leadership skills (and, let’s be honest, mastering snack-time negotiations).
STEM & Renewable Energy: From coding to alternative energy, 4-H workshops introduced Cape Cod youth to the tech and science shaping our future.
Military Family Support: 4-H programs provided resources and leadership opportunities for kids on Joint Base Cape Cod.
Public Speaking Pros: 4-Hers developed top-notch communication skills—so good they won state-level awards!
Looking Ahead: More Exciting Things to Come
While we’re not giving away all the details just yet, we can promise you this—there’s a lot to look forward to in the year ahead. More learning. More leadership. More ways for Cape Cod’s youth to grow, explore, and take on the world.
4-H isn’t just a program—it’s a launchpad for young people to develop skills, confidence, and connections that last a lifetime. Want to be part of it? Whether you’re a parent, volunteer, or curious supporter, now’s the time to get involved.
