The Health Department urges all residents and visitors to ensure full COVID-19 vaccination for themselves and their family members, including infants and children ages 6 months+. All those eligible for vaccination should receive a primary dose series followed by updated booster shot according to the vaccine manufacturer’s recommended schedule. Similarly, the Health Department recommends that everyone ages 6 months+ should receive an annual flu vaccine. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is safe to receive COVID-19 and flu vaccines at the same visit.
Considering what is anticipated to be an active season for acute respiratory illness (which encompasses COVID-19, flu, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and other non-specific respiratory illnesses), the public is urged to obtain free COVID-19 home test kits that are once again being offered by the federal government. Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order one set of four free at-home tests. Orders can be placed online at COVID Home Tests | USPS.
