Public and Media Invited to Attend Swear-In Ceremony for Americorps Cape Cod’s Year 26 Members
September 23, 2024 (Barnstable, MA) – AmeriCorps Cape Cod (ACC) is marking 26 years of service to Cape Cod with a Swearing-In Ceremony for its newest members, who will serve from 2024 to 2025. The ceremony will take place on the front steps of the Superior Courthouse on Wednesday, September 25, at 12:00 PM.
Over the next 11 months, these dedicated members will commit more than 18,700 hours of service, addressing Cape Cod’s critical environmental and disaster-preparedness needs. Their efforts build on the legacy of over 600 AmeriCorps alumni who have contributed more than one million hours of service since the program’s inception, providing an estimated value of over $27.5 million to Cape Cod’s towns, state and federal agencies, and local non-profits.
AmeriCorps Cape Cod is more than a program—it’s a lifeline for the region. Members work side by side with local communities, tackling essential projects like shellfish propagation, herring run clearing, disaster preparedness, coastal erosion control, and habitat restoration.
“Since 1999, AmeriCorps Cape Cod members have made a significant impact on Cape Cod’s environment and its communities. Our Year 26 members arrived from across the country with a commitment to serve,” said Program Manager Kat Garofoli.
The press and public are encouraged to attend and learn more about how ACC members play a vital role in preserving the Cape for years to come.
