Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in August 2024 was up 2.6% from August 2023 volume and the total value of sales was down 2.8% from the previous year. The median individual property sale value was up 0.8% from the previous year. There was a 1% decrease in the volume of mortgage activity from August 2023 levels.
Year to Date: Volume of Sales is down 0.2%; Total Value of Sales is up 5.5%; Individual Sales Value is up 6.6%; Mortgage Volume is down 5.7%.
Register Meade reports that there were 477 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in August 2024 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $404,294,228.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in August 2024 was $635,000.00.
There were 664 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in August 2024 with a total value of $412,477,583.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $383,600.00.
By way of comparison, there were 465 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in August 2023 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $415,867,764.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in August 2023 was $630,000.00.
There were 671 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in August 2023 with a total value of $385,663,329.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $350,000.00.
