AmeriCorps Cape Cod: A Week to Remember!
What better time to celebrate ACC’s 25th Anniversary and 30 Years of AmeriCorps than during AmeriCorps Week?! Thank you to all the alumni, current members, and community partners that joined us in the festivities. You are the reason we continue to get things done for Cape Cod. Thursday, March 14, 2024 – 25th Anniversary Kick-Off Social
Over 50 attendees joined us for an evening of reminiscing, raffle prizes, and refreshments! It was a fun way to get the gang together and let the good times roll as we launched into a weekend filled with service and celebration.
Friday, March 15, 2024 – Alumni Service Projects
Alumni were invited to relive the member experience by signing up to attend one of three service projects happening across the Cape. Alongside current members, alumni raked and sorted oyster seed at Waquoit Bay with Town of Falmouth Marine & Environmental Services, installed shorebird fencing at Sandy Neck Beach with Town of Barnstable Natural Resources, and managed invasives by completing a pile burn at Thompson’s Field with Town of Harwich Conservation Department. We didn’t let a little rain stop us!
Saturday, March 16, 2024 – 46th Annual Falmouth STEAM Fair & 25th Anniversary Banquet
On Saturday morning, current members and alumni came together to host a variety of WETFest activities at the 46th Annual Falmouth STEAM Fair. That led us to our 25th Anniversary Banquet where we were joined by State Senator Susan Moran, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Cape Cod Canal Ranger John Pricilla, Cape Cod National Seashore Superintendent Jennifer Flynn, and Barnstable County Government Commissioner Sheila Lyons who helped honor and recognize the power of service on Cape Cod. We even got a heartfelt, surprise video message from ACC founder and visionary Darlene Johnson-Morris. Thanks to the nearly 100 participants that made the event so special!
