Cape Cod Community College to Hold Suicide Prevention Summit, March 6, 2024

Cape Cod Community College will host a Suicide Prevention Summit on March 6, 2024. This in person event will be held at the College and feature presentations that address the issues of suicide in our community and creating college, school, and community partnerships.

The Summit presents a unique opportunity to bring the community together to create hope through action by sharing best practice and innovation in suicide prevention. The Summit will feature advocates and professionals and those with lived experience to help foster community connections and partnerships to raise awareness, promote education, and increase action to reduce suicides.

Featured Speakers

Dr. Brian Van Brunt, Director of Behavior and Threat Management for D-Prep Safety. Dr. Van Brunt will present “Suicide Prevention: A Community Focus”.

Eileen Davis, Vice President of Mass211, Founder & Director of Call2Talk, Founder & Chair of the MetroWest Regional Coalition for Suicide Prevention, Executive Committee Member for the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention. Ms. Davis will present: “Your Phoenix Can Also Rise”.

Barbara Brunzell, Chapter Founder and Team Leader for LOSSteam MetroWest, Postvention Services, Manager at Call2Talk, Co-Chair of the Metrowest Regional Coalition for Suicide Prevention. Ms. Brunzell will present: “LOSS Team Models: Bridging the Gap to Support the Suicide Loss Survivor Community”.

Dr. Maura Weir, Suicidologist, Chief Wellness Officer Cape Cod Community College, Co-Chair of the Cape and Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition.

Robert Galibois, Cape and Islands District Attorney, “Call to Action”.

Call to Action Panel: The Call to Action Panel will include presenters from the healthcare, education, and community sectors who are helping to reduce suicides in our region.
