Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission Announces Awardees for 2023 Annual Human Rights Awards Celebration

November 22, 2023 (Barnstable, MA) – The Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s Annual Human Rights Awards celebration, which will take place on December 11, 2023, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at the Hyport Conference Center, located at 35 Scudder Ave., Hyannis.

The Rosenthal Community Champion Award will be presented to the MLK Action Team Police Task Force of Nauset Interfaith for their dedicated efforts to enhance the relationship between the police and the communities they serve.

The Cornerstone Award will be given to Ann Burke in recognition of her outstanding advocacy work in support of transgender individuals on Cape Cod and the Islands.

The Tim McCarthy Award will be granted to Ngina Lythcott for her tireless advocacy for children, public health, and racial justice in Provincetown over the past two decades.

The event will also include recognition of Unsung Heroes, including Patricia Cawley, Christine Drew, Natalia Frois, James Matthews, Michael Mecenas, Dan Miville, Chris Morin, Cecilia Phelan-Stiles, Sheril Smith, David Thomas, The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, and Health Ministry Inc., for their remarkable contributions.
