How to Get Your Soil Tested
Developing and maintaining productive soils begin with soil testing. Soils tests provide information on the soil’s actual nutrient status. Test results are used to determine the amount and kind of nutrients that should be added for the best growth of lawn, garden, and other types of plants. You will need to collect a sample of the soil, in advance of planting or spring green-up. This allows adequate time for sample analysis, data interpretation, and fertilizer and lime application.
Soil and Diagnostic samples can be dropped off at the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension’s NEW location 1358 Route 28, South Yarmouth. You will see a black, oversized mailbox outside of the entrance. Soil test and Diagnostic forms will be available at the drop box.
Please be sure your sample is accompanied by one of these forms and that your sample is clearly marked with your name. Soil will continue to be tested at no cost to residents. We do ask that you limit your samples to 5 per household. Samples can still be sent in by mail to: CCCE, P.O. Box 367, Barnstable, MA 02630.
