Barnstable County Announces Availability of $5 Million in Grant Funding for Cape Communities and Nonprofits

Information from the Office of the Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners and Assembly of Delegates

County will host virtual conferences on how to bid for available grants

August 9, 2022 (Barnstable, MA) – Barnstable County is announcing that $5 million in grant funding from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds will be available to non-county local government units, nonprofits, and private/for-profit organizations. This allocation is in addition to $10 million in funding currently available to the 15 municipalities across Cape Cod that comprise Barnstable County.

Barnstable County will host ARPA Funding Bidders Conferences on August 17 and 18 to describe eligibility requirements and the application process and answer questions about the $5 million available in small and medium-sized grants for Cape-based organizations. The grants will be distributed in the following way: $2 million will be allocated to small grants between $100,000 to $250,000, and $3 million is reserved for medium-sized grants between $250,000 to $500,000.

This $5 million disbursement will expand the County’s ability to address the economic recovery from COVID by opening funding to other organizations to increase the capacity to find solutions to address critical issues facing local Cape Cod communities.

“Distribution of ARPA funds will provide a significant economic catalyst as our region continues to rebound from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we appreciate the Assembly of Delegate’s support in releasing these funds to the nonprofit and eligible community partners,” said Sheila Lyons, Chair, Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners. “We are pleased to work to provide these funds to deserving community organizations and nonprofits on Cape Cod, and we urge them to participate in the upcoming Bidders Conferences and ultimately apply for these grants.”

“The Assembly of Delegates is pleased to be working with the Board of Commissioners to help deliver this $5 million in additional critical ARPA funds directly to our local communities across Cape Cod. This funding is being made available to address critical needs and will benefit our communities for years to come,” said Patrick Princi, Speaker of the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates.

The ARPA Funding Bidders Conferences will be held on Wednesday, August 17, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Thursday, August 18, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
