High Winds and Power Outages in Barnstable County

A high wind and rain event impacted Massachusetts with strong and damaging winds resulting in electric customer outages. The winds realized were in excess of previously forecast wind speeds, and as such had a greater than anticipated impact. The most significant customer impacts are in the South Shore/Plymouth/Duxbury areas with Norfolk and Worcester counties impacted as well.

The steadier and heavier rain has exited Massachusetts now. There may be a few spotty showers early this afternoon. Additional rainfall amounts will be very light. Winds will remain gusty at times, especially across the eastern districts. Dry weather will follow across the entire state tonight and winds will be lighter. Dry and mild weather will remain in place through the day Thursday and Thursday night. Rain showers will develop from west to east across the state again Friday morning and into Friday afternoon. The showers will end on Friday evening. Current trends support dry weather for the upcoming weekend.
