Preparing Cape Cod for Floods

If it rains on your home, it can flood. A flood could take everything that you own, and flood insurance is a way to protect your property and belongings from damage caused by rainstorms. Flood insurance isn’t just for people living on a beach or lake, and most home insurance and renters’ policies do not cover floods. Many flood insurance policies don’t take effect for 30 days, which highlights the importance of getting coverage before Cape Cod’s major storm season starts.

Talk to your insurance agent to find out your options for adding a flood insurance policy, and head to https://www.capecod.gov/flood for more resources on protecting your home from flooding.
