Barnstable County Shares a Message of Hope with Mood Elevation Signs
Have you noticed the Mood Elevation Signs planted around Cape Cod to help individuals who may be struggling with their mental health? These signs are part of an initiative by Cape & Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition, Cape Cod Neighborhood Support Coalition, Cape Cod Community College, and WE thrive at CIGSYA LGBTQ Center.
Promoting the Message that Support is Available
The signs aim to provide assurance to individuals that they are not alone in their struggles and that there is help available. As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, Barnstable County’s Department of Human Services planted several of them at the County Complex. Mental health is important for our overall well-being, and it is essential that we prioritize it. For many individuals, mental health struggles can be overwhelming and isolating. The Mood Elevation Signs aim to combat this feeling of isolation by promoting the message that support is available.
One of the most significant aspects of these Mood Elevation Signs is that they provide individuals with quick access to support. By calling, texting, or chatting with 988, individuals can connect with trained counselors who can listen, understand, and provide support. These trained counselors are equipped to provide assistance and connect individuals with additional resources if necessary. This support system can play a crucial role in helping individuals cope with their mental health struggles.
Mood Elevation Signs Have Been Planted Around Cape Cod and Plymouth
The initiative to put up Mood Elevation Signs is not limited to Barnstable County alone. These signs can also be seen around Provincetown and Plymouth, among other locations across the Cape. This spread of the signs ensures that people from different areas can access help whenever they need it.
The Mood Elevation Signs not only spread the message of hope and support but also encourages individuals to take action towards better well-being. By seeking help and support, individuals can take a significant step towards improving their mental health. The signs also contribute to breaking down the stigma associated with mental health struggles, encouraging individuals to talk more openly about their experiences.
