2023 Master Gardener Application Now Available
The Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod program is a cooperative effort between community volunteers (Master Gardeners) and Cape Cod Cooperative Extension staff to provide science-based gardening and horticultural information to the residents of Barnstable County. Barnstable County residents with a desire and willingness to learn and share information about gardening are welcome to apply. The program includes training and a volunteer commitment. The training starts in January and runs through March on Tuesdays from 9:00am to 3:30pm, equating to approximately 60 hours of training. There is also a volunteer commitment of 60 hours to be completed by October 31, 2023, about 40 hours of which are required staffing the Horticulture Clinic from April – October (Mon., Wed., and Fri. April – Sept., Tues. and Thurs. in October). In subsequent years there is a 20 hour volunteer commitment and a 5 hour continuing education requirement to be a Master Gardener.
The program has limited capacity and therefore applications are used to select the most qualified candidates. Applications are due by October 1, 2022. Participation is contingent upon a satisfactory CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) inquiry. If accepted, the fee for the Master Gardener training program is $100.00.
