Barnstable County Welcomes New Human Services Director, Joseph Pacheco

Joseph Pacheco, Barnstable County’s Newly Appointed Human Services Director

Brings Extensive Experience in Human Services, Local and State Roles

June 14, 2021 (Barnstable, MA) – The Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph Pacheco as the organization’s Director of the Department of Human Services.

Since 2016, Mr. Pacheco has served in the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, first as an Area Manager with the Department of Children and Families and most recently as an Assistant Director with MassHealth. Mr. Pacheco has worked in both the local and state government levels over the course of his career.  A former staff director in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, Pacheco has served in local government since 2005.

Barnstable County Chairman Ronald Bergstrom said, “Joe’s work in public social services programs and experience with policy and funding is well known. We are particularly impressed with his experience in Project Management across several human services areas, especially non-profit housing and community development, and his keen understanding of long-term financial planning. We look forward to seeing what he will do in this new role.”

A 2007 graduate of Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor of Science (Magna Cum Laude), Mr. Pacheco went on to become the youngest selectman in the town of Raynham’s history at the age of 21. He was named a New England Business Bulletin “Top Young Professional Under 40” in 2009 and again in 2010 for his efforts on behalf of the town of Raynham.
