National Disability Employment Awareness Month 2020
The Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission is proud to support National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This October celebrates 30 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and 75 years of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). NDEAM aims to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. NDEAM is led by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, but its true spirit lies in the many observances held at the grassroots level across the nation every year. National Disability Employment Awareness Month recognizes the accomplishments of the men and women with disabilities whose work is essential to the nation’s economy. Since 1945, efforts to ensure equal opportunity for all citizens have led to legislative change. Congress now recognizes October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Learn how you can support NDEAM by visiting the ODEP website: www.dol.gov/NDEAM.
