Winter Weather Update
BARNSTABLE (MA) March 6, 2020 –
0930 Winter Weather Update: Strong winds with accumulating snow are expected for our region this evening into tomorrow morning. Wind gusts upwards of 60-65+ mph are possible alongside 2-4″ of snow, especially over the lower Cape and Nantucket. Be sure to watch for updates from the US National Weather Service Boston MA.
Several watches & warnings are in effect for the Cape through noon tomorrow including a High Wind Warning and a Winter Weather Advisory.
The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee will be monitoring the storm and will be ready to assist communities as needed.
Whenever we have high winds alongside accumulating snow, downed trees and limbs causing localized damage are possible. Unsecured objects may be blown around. Untreated roads may be slick. If you see a downed power line, always assume it is live. Stay away and call 9-1-1.
Power outages are also possible. Be sure to check out ready.gov for information on how to prepare. Report power outages to Eversource at 800-592-2000 or at www.eversource.com/customercare/ReportOutage.
