Barnstable County Impacted by Storm Skylar

BARNSTABLE (MA) March 13, 2018 – The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) held a conference call at 10 a.m. March 13, 2018, to review the current effects of Winter Storm Skylar.

At this time, citizens should be sheltering in place and staying off the roads. Conditions are very dangerous with high winds and blowing snow. The Cape is experiencing widespread electrical outages. High winds are hampering the efforts of utility crews to restore power. The storm is expected to last through the afternoon and into the evening.

The BCREPC Multi-Agency Coordination Center (MACC) operated by the Barnstable County All Hazards Incident Management Team was activated at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Shelter System has been placed on standby. A decision on activation will be made later on Tuesday.
