International Walk to School Day, Wednesday October 3rd
International Walk to School Day on October 3rd is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school. It began in 1997 as a one-day event and over time became part of a movement for year-round Safe Routes to School. Today, thousands of schools across America – from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico – participate every October. Orleans Elementary School is a Safe Routes to School partner school and participates in International Walk to School Day every year. This year students will be joined by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Deputy Commissioner, Monica Valdes Lupi and the Barnstable County Department of Human Services Mass In MotionProject Manager, Christine Stein. Please join us in supporting schools, families and students that join in Walk to School Day on Wednesday October 3rd.
