Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission Announces Fall Session of Human Rights Academy “Pathways to Peace”

October 6, 2022 (Barnstable, MA) – The Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission is pleased to announce the fall session of the Human Rights Academy for students on Cape Cod. The “Pathways to Peace” event will be held on October 25th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at Cape Cod Academy in Osterville.

Students from Cape Cod high schools who are members of social justice clubs are invited to attend this year’s Academy.  A collaboration between Cape Mediation and Nauset High School’s Youth Mediators will provide programming.

This Human Rights Academy’s theme is “Pathways to Peace.” The programming is in direct response to student feedback from the Human Rights Academy’s spring session when students spoke at length about how civility and compassion are challenges in their schools.

This workshop will expose students to core tactics for conflict resolution and address the impact of listening skills on social equity and empathy.  Furthermore, Cape Mediation and trained Nauset High School students will highlight social justice practices.
