Welcome to New Staff Member Tracey Benson

Welcome to the new Department of Human Services staff member, Tracey Benson. Tracey is the Cape and Islands Regional Program Manager for SHINE. (Sheila Curtis retired on September 29, 2017).  Tracey has extensive experience in managing the SHINE program and is quickly gearing up for Open Enrollment which begins on October 15, 2017.  Prior to becoming the SHINE program manager for Cape Cod and the Islands, Tracey was the Assistant Director for the SHINE program in the Plymouth County area for ten years.

Tracey achieved a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Anna Maria College and has experience in hospital reimbursement as a senior analyst and health insurance as a provider relations specialist.  Tracey adds “My experience in these fields is a great asset in enabling me to navigate through the health care system to better help beneficiaries… I am thrilled that I can continue to be part of a program that allows me to educate Medicare beneficiaries and their family members about health care options, and provide awareness of eligibility guidelines for public benefits.”

In keeping with her passion for helping others, Tracey serves on the board of trustees for the Bliss Family Foundation to Aid Elderly Women.  The mission of the foundation is to provide assistance to help elderly women from Wareham or Middleboro remain in their homes.

Image Fence postHealthy Connected Cape Cod is the conceptual framework that ties together the work of Barnstable County’s Department of Human Services.  The Department’s goal is to organize regional approaches by engaging residents, health and human service organizations, and coalitions and networks throughout Cape Cod to plan and implement activities that promote health and well-being for County residents.
