Health officials announce 7th human case of West Nile in Mass.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced the seventh human case of West Nile virus in the state in 2015.

Health officials said the female patient is a Suffolk County resident in her 90s who likely contracted the virus in the Suffolk County area.

The woman has been hospitalized as a result of her infection.

Health officials said there is no elevated risk of West Nile virus as a result of the findings, but the risk level for Boston, Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop is already classified as high.
