“We have a new tick in town and it’s a game changer,” reported county entomologist Larry Dapsis to the Barnstable County Assembly last week.
The lone star tick has established a “beachhead” at Sandy Neck Beach Park, Dapsis said, and is migrating east down the Cape. The tick can be differentiated from others by the light spot on the back of females and light side markings on the male.
