Groups Team Up for Boost for Cape Drug Fight

Galvanized by what has become a community crisis, Cape Cod Healthcare has joined with Barnstable County, two major charitable foundations and the region’s primary addiction treatment center in an ambitious plan to fight drug abuse.
Cape Cod Healthcare, the Kelley Foundation and the Palmer and Jane D. Davenport Foundation have put up $500,000 to begin what they hope will be a sweeping effort to cut the chain of addiction at its roots. They hope to raise at least $1 million for youth education and prevention programs.
This is not a short-term solution to address an immediate crisis but a multiyear effort with costs that could go into “seven figures” if enough people climb onboard, said Joel Crowell, president of the Kelley Foundation. Read entire article…
