Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment is accepting applications for a full-time, grant funded position of Regional Training Hub Instructor in the specialty area of Housing. The Regional Instructor will coordinate with communities associated with the Barnstable Regional Training Hub and State Level Trainers in providing hands-on training related to Housing & State Sanitary Code. Instructor must have in-depth knowledge of 105 CMR 410.00 and related codes. This position will work closely with local public health officials across the Training Hub service area, and will work in partnership with the DPH Office of Local and regional Health (OLRH). The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and innovative environment. 

Bachelor’s degree in public or environmental health, minimum 3-5 years’ experience with housing code enforcement or inspection or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certified as a National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) preferred, or must obtain within 18 months of hire. Licensed Lead Determination Inspector preferred; Class D motor vehicle operator’s license required.

Travel within the Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Plymouth, and Halifax regions is required. Must provide own reliable transportation for travel to and from training sites, mileage to be reimbursed.
