Local aquaculture and seafood initiatives are a collaboration between Barnstable County’s Marine Resources & Aquaculture Department and Buy Fresh Buy Local Cape Cod. The collaboration is established to coordinate various activities such as events and tours, and provide a cohesive vision to showcase Cape Cod seafood and to connect the public with local seafood species.

CHEF SURVEY

This survey focuses on the MA Aquaculture Industry.  Aquaculture is the rearing and harvesting of food from water environments. Shellfish aquaculture in coastal waters is a $28 million dollar business in Massachusetts with approximately 400 growers farming over 1200 acres. Current aquaculture products grown in Massachusetts include quahogs (hard clams), oysters, petite surf clams (butter clams), and kelp seaweed. The MA aquaculture industry is always looking for new ways meet the needs of chefs and the culinary industry, and in the process identify new markets and products to grow.  Thank you for your time!
