Emma Grace Deily-Swearingen

Hi. My name is Emma Grace Deily-Swearingen. I’m 25 years old. I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. I’ve always loved nature, with a particular passion for wildlife. Growing up on the gulf coast, I had a lot of experience with natural disasters. After Hurricane Katrina, my family moved to Massachusetts. Last May I graduated from UMass Amherst with my Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Conservation with a focus in wildlife. Last summer I completed an internship through the USDA’s CAFE program where I assisted with research on crabs in the marshes of Cape Cod so I’m excited to be back and hopefully working in coastal ecosystems again. In my free time, I love music, particularly goth rock, industrial, synth, metal, post-punk, and darkwave and I love horror and fantasy movies, books, and tv. I also enjoy sewing, hiking, and swimming. I’m thrilled to be back in an area with so much natural beauty to explore.

Avalon Hadley

Hi! My name is Avalon Hadley. I was born and raised in the Northeast. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a major in Anthropology and a minor in environmental anthropology. After graduation I joined several committees focusing on environmental conservation and women’s politics. Most of my past service and work has been focused on sustainable urban agriculture, environmental education, and justice. Last year I worked with a non-profit CitySprouts focusing on hands-on learning for youth through urban gardening. Before I got into anthropology and environmental studies, I was a fine arts major, so I love incorporating art into my work as much as possible. My hobbies include reading, watching movies, baking, painting, hiking, and generally exploring.

Leonel “Leo” Lainez

Hola! My name is Leo, and I am 22 years old and I’m from Brockton, Massachusetts. I recently graduated from UMass Amherst with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Management. During my time on campus, I learned important skills such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), wildlife and plant identification and sampling, and creating models for sustainable living. My university has helped me expand my knowledge of climate change, global solutions, and wildlife habitat management and restoration. I also was a Residential Assistant and helped facilitate a course about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Some of my personal hobbies include photography, producing music, hiking, and important stargazing. Overall, with the experiences I have combined I am passionate about the environment and finding ways to get people connected again with nature.

William “Will” Longo

My name is Will Longo, and I am originally from Bridgewater, Massachusetts. I went to Fordham University in New York and studied environmental science. The outdoors has always been a passion for me, and I’ve long enjoyed going for runs, skiing, hiking, and camping with friends and family. I am hoping to make a career in environmental management and, specifically, renewable energy. I am hoping to pursue a career helping companies become more environmentally friendly and energy efficient. Other interests include following and playing sports (especially Boston teams). I also enjoy listening to and playing music. I love going to concerts and playing the violin and the recorder. Additionally, I like to follow and read about current events and global affairs.
