AmeriCorps Cape Cod Year 24 Officially Sworn in!

September 28, 2022 – At 10:00 a.m., new AmeriCorps Cape Cod members were sworn in on the steps of the Superior Courthouse at the Barnstable County Complex. This marked the start of an 11-month journey and more than 18,000 combined volunteer hours to meet the environmental and disaster-preparedness needs of Cape Cod.

Since 1999, a steady stream of young adults has served with AmeriCorps Cape Cod.

Since its inception, the AmeriCorps program has had 972,669 members serve in areas such as natural resource management (land and water conservation), disaster preparedness and response, environmental and community education, and more, for an estimated value of over $32,000,000 to Cape towns, state and federal agencies, and non-profit organizations.

Commissioner Sheila Lyons officially welcomes new Corps members on the front steps of Superior Courthouse today.
