Notice of Opportunity for Public Comment on Transportation Planning Documents
For Immediate Release (May 26, 2022) – The Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has released two (2) documents for a public review and comment period. Members of the public are invited to review these documents and provide comments.
- Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2022-2026 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendment 3
- Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization Public Participation Plan (2022 Update)
During a meeting held on May 23, 2022, the MPO released the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2022-2026 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendment 3 for a 21-day public review and comment period. The MPO also released the five-year update to the Public Participation Plan (PPP) for a 45-day public review and comment period.
The TIP serves as a prioritized listing of roadway, bridge, and transit projects proposed for implementation during the next five (5) federal fiscal years. The FFY 2022-2026 TIP Amendment 3 would increase the funding to match updated cost estimates for the Dennis Route 6A over Sesuit Creek Culvert Replacement Project and the Harwich Azalea Bridge over Herring River Replacement Project.
Comments on TIP Amendment 3 will be accepted through June 13, 2022, via mail, hand delivery, facsimile (fax), or e-mail.
A virtual public meeting of the Cape Cod MPO is scheduled for Monday, June 27, 2022, at 1:00 PM to hear public comments and vote for potential endorsement. More information on this meeting can be found at www.capecodcommission.org/mpo or by calling 508-362-3828.
The PPP is updated every five years. It guides the MPO in its public participation efforts to offer early, continuous, and meaningful opportunities for the public to take part in an inclusive and equitable transportation planning and decision process. It provides a toolbox of techniques to achieve effective participation, reaches underrepresented and underserved populations, and comply with non-discrimination measures included in Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Development of the Regional Transportation Plan, Transportation Improvement Program, Unified Planning Work Program, and corridor and area plans all utilize the PPP in their engagement and outreach.
The proposed amendments and updates to the draft PPP can be viewed by visiting www.capecodcommission.org/ppp. Comments on the PPP will be accepted through July 7, 2022, via mail, hand delivery, facsimile (fax), or e-mail.
