Cape Cod Commission celebrates Bay State Bike Month
For Immediate Release (May 11, 2022) – The Cape Cod Commission is joining regional and state-wide efforts to celebrate bicycling as an alternative to driving motor vehicles during Bay State Bike Month this May.
Cape Cod Commission Transportation staff are hosting several outreach tables to share information about the Transportation Improvement Program and the Unified Planning Work Program as well as raise awareness about bicycling on Cape Cod. Additionally, the Cape Cod Commission’s Bicycle Rack Program has been extended into 2022 and is now open with approximately $60,000 in remaining federal funds for this Program. The Bike Rack Program provides full reimbursement to municipalities and other governmental agencies for the cost of purchasing bicycle racks and associated equipment (i.e. repair stations, shelters), excluding shipping and installation costs. Installation and shipping costs are borne by the eligible applicants as part of the local match funding mechanism. Equipment must be installed on public property. Cape Cod Commission will accept proposals and allocate funds on a first-come, first-served basis and will be accepting applications until September 30, 2022. All equipment must be installed by the applicant by December 31, 2022.
