MACC deactivated at 7:00 AM Saturday morning
January 15, 2022 (Barnstable, MA) – The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) activated the Multi-Agency Coordination Center (MACC) at 5:00 PM Friday and monitored conditions across the Cape and Islands throughout the night. Despite the high winds, there were relatively low power outages, and those reported were restored by Eversource promptly.
Current outages are in the single digits in multiple towns across the Cape, with a total of 10 customers on Cape without power as of 7:00 AM.
Steamship Authority and Hyline Cruises have resumed service to the Islands.
The MACC secured operations at 7:00 AM and will maintain standard monitoring status.
The BCREPC continues to warn of frigid temperatures throughout the day and will monitor the weather system coming into the region on Sunday night into Monday. Temperatures on the Cape and Islands region are expected to be in the lows 9 °F to 15 °F overnight tonight.
Residents are reminded to limit time outside, check on their neighbors, and bring pets inside during freezing temperatures. Winter safety tips are provided at www.bcrepc.org
