AmeriCorps Cape Cod is proud to have organized and hosted annual MLK Day service events for over 20 years. These projects have addressed numerous community needs, including food security, education, homelessness, and the environment.

[su_quote]”We are excited to be hosting an in-person MLK Day event this year and invite the community to join us as we honor and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and message by working together to keep Cape Cod’s shorelines clean,” said Phoebe Plank, Program Specialist for AmeriCorps Cape Cod.[/su_quote]

MLK Day is the only federal holiday recognized as a National Day of Service – a “day on, not a day off.” Observed on the third Monday in January every year, individuals are encouraged to volunteer together to improve their communities. For the past 26 years, AmeriCorps programs across the country have been charged with leading this effort. The goal of the day is to help preserve the health and beauty of Cape Cod’s shorelines for future generations through education and action.
