[January 3, 2022 | 7: 30 AM] BCREPC UPDATE: Winter Storm Warning for Nantucket, Winter Weather Advisory for Cape Cod
Low pressure moving well south of Cape Cod will bring accumulating snow to Cape Cod and the Islands today.
Low pressure will be moving off of the mid-Atlantic coast and will pass well south of Cape Cod this evening.
Discussion and Forecast
Track for the outer edge of the snow shield is expected to affect Cape Cod and the Islands this afternoon/this evening. The expected accumulation is 6″ + on Nantucket, 3-5” on Cape Cod, 2″ inches into extreme Southeast Massachusetts.
NWS has converted the Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning for Nantucket.
NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Cape Cod.
Precipitation will begin to decrease at approximately 9-10 pm.
Tides are high and a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for this morning. Some minor inundation on normally flood-prone areas is possible.
Extended Outlook
Potential for a larger coastal storm impacting the area in the Friday time frame.
