Sand Shifter – Stage Harbor, Chatham
Another challenging week in Stage Harbor, with strong Southerly winds halting operations on Monday, resuming dredging on Tuesday & Wednesday, stopped again on Thursday by strong Northwesterly winds, restarting again on Friday with a half day on Saturday before strong Southerly winds returned.
We are approximately 25% of the way through with this project, with a target dredge volume of 30,000 Cubic Yards.
The photo below shows just how quickly the movement of the sand takes place along the bottom where we are dredging. The location is approximately 400 feet behind the Sand Shifter showing where the sand has filled in the channel and covering the pipe in one recent storm overnight.
