Join this LIVE Streamed Event Tonight: Season of Change, Coping During COVID

Barnstable, MA. (February 22, 2021) – The Cape Cod COVID-19 Response Task Force and MassSupport Network are pleased to announce the presenters for Season of Change, Coping During COVID. This online public event will focus on understanding the psychological impact of the challenges faced during the pandemic and will offer helpful coping and self-care practices. The event will also provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions of local health and human service experts.

Presenters:

Larry Berkowitz, EdD, Director, Riverside Trauma Center
Larry is the Co-Founder of Riverside Trauma Center. He has provided direct therapeutic services for over 20 years and managed mental health services for over 15 years. His clinical areas of expertise include work with children, adolescents, adults, and families who are trauma survivors and/or suicide survivors. He coordinates and provides disaster response services and post-suicide intervention for individuals, schools, workplaces, and communities, and conducts trainings on suicide prevention. Larry holds a doctoral degree in Counseling and Consulting Psychology from Harvard University and is a licensed Psychologist in Massachusetts. He is on the Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention, serves as the Co-Chair of the Northeast Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention, and holds an appointment as a Teaching Associate in Psychology, Part Time, at Harvard Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry.

Elizabeth M. Rego, MSW
Elizabeth Rego (Liz) is the Southeast Team Leader for MassSupport. She is the proud mother of a 17-year-old daughter a 20-year daughter and a bonus mom to an 11 year old daughter as well. Liz is a recent MSW graduate of Boston University. Her work experience prior to MassSupport includes working with the chronically homeless population as a Case Manager and a Substance Use Disorder Counselor at an inpatient facility. She speaks fluent Portuguese and is passionate about working with survivors of trauma especially those that speak English as a second language. During MassSupport , and upon being hired, it has been reflected by many that Liz has the ability to hold a space to support a variety of needs for those struggling during this pandemic.  She has a presence that is reflective of a collaborator and a supporter.  Multiple times during this pandemic she has been a 1:1 supporter to an affected individual as well as a Team Lead for identifying better ways to reach specialized populations.  Linguistic and cultural abilities in light, Liz is an all-around overall resource for anyone affected by this pandemic.

“Kolby (she/her/hers) is a recent graduate from Bridgewater State University where she earned her master’s degree in Social Work. Kolby has dedicated much of her time to growing in the field of human services and has worked in multiple settings such as: community mental health, substance use treatment, homeless shelters, children/adolescent residential treatment, and mobile crisis.”

The Cape Cod COVID-19 Response Task Force (formerly the Cape Cod Reopening Task Force) was created to develop collaborative strategies for reopening Cape Cod. The goal of the Task Force is to support economic recovery while protecting the health and safety of our residents and visitors. The Cape Cod Reopening Task Force is led by the Cape & Islands Legislative Delegation, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and Barnstable County, with participation from Cape Cod Healthcare, municipal officials, first responders, community leaders and others.
